How to Charge E Cigarettes

Electronic cigarettes are a revolution for smokers; giving a healthier, cheaper alternative to traditional cigarettes and enabling them to smoke in places where real cigs are banned.

The electronic cigarette consists of a battery (which looks like the long, white part of a cigarette), the atomiser (which is the middle part and contains the e cigarette cartridge) and the inhaler (which is the brown plastic mouthpiece and looks like the brown filter of a real cigarette). The electronic cigarette uses the small lithium battery to atomise the liquid nicotine solution contained in the refill cartridge. This electronic circuit activates the atomiser when the cigarette is inhaled by mouth. A light at the tip of the product is also lit when inhaling. As soon as you stop inhaling, the atomiser stops working and goes on standby in readiness for you to inhale again. A vapour is produced when you inhale which gives the smoker the throat hit and nicotine fix that have made this new invention so popular. The batteries are recharged with a small charger that comes with a power line and plug, or can be charged by car charger or usb charger.

It is usually recommended to have at least two batteries; one to use and one that can be on charge in readiness when the first battery stops working and requires charging. The batteries usually last on average for approx 200 puffs before needing to be recharged. When it needs recharging, the battery tip will flash. If you continue to draw on the e cig after the tip has flashed, it will eventually stop lighting up altogether which means that the battery is flat.

Recharging the batteries is easy. There are several options; as the majority of starter kits come with a charger that comes with a powerline and a plug, you simply plug the charger into the mains, unscrew the battery from the atomiser and screw the battery into the charger. The charger has an indicator light on it that displays green when the charger is idle. As soon as you screw a battery into the charger, the light changes to red – indicating that the battery is being charged. The light will eventually turn to green which indicates that the battery is fully charged and can be removed from the charger. DO NOT overscrew the batteries into the charger as they can be overtightened and this will result in the battery and charger needing to be discarded as the charger will not release the battery. Charging usually takes from 1 to 3 hours depending upon the age of your battery. Newer batteries charge in less time than older ones.

There are other options for charging on the move. Most companies offer car chargers and very popular is the usb charger that can be used at your workdesk, or plugged into your lap top etc. All work on the same principle with an indicator light telling you when the battery is charged and ready to use.

If you are a heavy e smoker, then it is recommended to own 3 or more batteries. This will allow you to have several ready charged (for example on a night out when it would be difficult to get to a charger). This also allows for a battery malfunction or failure. Having a couple of spares on hand is always useful.
